GRADING

In accordance with the policy of the board of education the following grading system will be used for all subjects, including special education:  

          100 - 90         =              A

          89 - 80           =              B

          79 - 70           =              C

          69 - 60           =              D

          59 - Below     =              F

A grade mark of 'I' is an incomplete and will be changed when the course is completed within the time limit set by the teacher.

Grades for students transferring from schools that use the letter system will be recorded as follows:

90 = A

80 = B

70 = C

60 = D

59 = F

Exemption Policy

Students are exempt from taking the semester tests for individual classes by maintaining an "A" average with no more than three absences.  All other students will be taking the test. Students taking semester exams must stay in the class during the entire testing period.  

NOTE:  Any student who is more than 15 minutes late will receive a zero for the semester test.  Exceptions will be dealt with on an individual basis . The individual teacher will determine semester test weight with no test counting no more than 1/5 of the semester grade.  Teachers of upper level classes may choose to require all students to take the test.

In considering days missed, all absences, excused and unexcused will be counted except absences because of school-sponsored activities.  An exempted student has the option to take the semester tests.  However, the grade mark earned on the test will be included in the overall grade average.
